As I have tucked Anaya into bed these last few evenings, we have been talking about the Easter story. I must say I feel quite inadequate to explain it in a way that she understands. The whole idea of someone dying, and coming back to life is a pretty big concept. Yesterday, as we were looking at her picture bible I wondered what she was thinking. As many kids do, she loves to talk about the pictures. Why does Jesus wear a coat? Why does that man have all that hair on his chin? Mommy, “Jesus would not eat chocolate to celebrate Easter, he would eat alot of fish.” Mommy, “Jesus can’t wear runners because he has such BIG feet that is why he ┬áhas to wear sandals.” As I left her room, I realized her “small” thoughts were a reminder of something really big. She clearly saw that Jesus was human. Maybe he did have extra big feet, maybe he did get cold and have to wear a coat. I am thankful for the Easter story. I am thankful that Jesus understands my struggles, my worries, my fears. And He is able to bring heaven’s hope into my earthly journey. What does Easter mean to you?

~If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together…there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we’re apart…i’ll always be with you~ winnie the pooh
