~it came without ribbons. it came without tags. it came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled & puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas perhaps, means a little bit more.~ dr.seuss

Oldies & Goodies, 368 Stephen Street, Morden

Entering this quaint shop I immediatly loved its’ warmth and ambience, the creak of the beautiful old wooden floors beneath my feet, &  the schoolhouse lights that hung from the ceiling. Maybe because I grew up surrounded by history (Niagara-on-Lake, ON) that this old buidling gave me nostalgic feelings about my growing up years.  Owner Bevan Wiebe was immediatly inviting and told me about the history of the building.  368 Stephen Street was originally constructed as a print shop in 1899 & was the office of the Morden Chronicle.  It then became a bakery in 1925 and changed hands until 2000.  Presently you can enjoy a treat in one of the old wooden booths, and let your eyes and imagination take you back in history as you walk through the back room filled with many a vintage treasure.
